South Western Sydney Clinical School

Enhancement To Clinical Skills And Simulation Centre

A short note to update you on some recent and upcoming enhancements to the Ingham Institute Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre.

Firstly, we welcome Tina Holmes who has been appointed in the new role of Lecturer, Skills and Simulation based in the Centre. Tina joins us from the University of South Australia and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in educational design and experience teaching clinical programs. Tina will have two main foci initially: to work with staff to further develop use of the Centre in local training activities; and to foster research into the use of simulation and using the simulation environment.

Please join the School in welcoming her and don't hesitate to drop her an email or visit the Centre for a chat if you would like to discuss using the Centre.

Secondly, UNSW will be sponsoring a number of simulation, scenario building and inquiry based learning workshops during October and November and if you would be interested in learning more about designing and using simulated learning environments or any of the higher fidelity mannequins as part of your learning activities please let us know. We will also be developing a bank of simulation scenarios which will assist in broadening the range of activities that can be supported.

Lastly, the School is happy to report that UNSW has purchased a second SimMan 3G for the Centre. This along with a new model being developed to enhance access to the Centre and encourage self access of many of the skills trainers will hopefully improve the access that staff have to the Centre.
