Last Thursday the South Western Sydney Clinical School held its annual end of year dinner and awards evening in the CBD. The dinner was attended by final year students along with a number of academic and conjoint staff and representatives from the Local Health District.
Please join me in congratulating a number of students who were awarded prizes as part of the evening:
Named after the Foundation Clinical Dean of SWSCS, the Ian Webster Medal is awarded to the student who achieves the best overall result in the Year 6 barrier exams in Medicine, Surgery and Critical Care. The 2015 recipient of the Medal is Kamal Singh.
The Tom Gibian Prize is awarded to the student who is nominated by their peers as having best engaged with the University and wider community whilst a medical student at UNSW. The joint winner of the 2015 Prize were Jessica Jones and Lawson Ung.
The School also awards prizes to the students who achieve the best results in Surgery and Medicine coursework components of the course. The Surgery Prize was awarded to Kamal Singh, while Varun Manoharan received the Medicine Prize.
