Please join the School in congratulating Professor Hugh Dickson who has been recognised with an award in the Australia Day Honours List yesterday.

Hugh has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for service to aged care and rehabilitation and to medical education and administration. 

Hugh has made an enormous contribution to medical services and education in south western Sydney throughout his career. He has held a number of key appointments in the south west including in Aged Care and Rehabilitation, Ambulatory Care, Clinical Governance and as the former Chair of the District Human Research Ethics Committee. 

Hugh was appointed as a Conjoint Professor at UNSW in 1997 and has made an important contribution to the Aged Care and Rehabilitation curriculum and teaching since that time. He is also a founding member of the Liverpool Diabetes Collaborative Research Unit. 

Professor Dickson has also contributed to his discipline both nationally and internationally as President of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine for two terms and as a Founding Fellow and former Chair of the Australian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre Management Committee.
