South Western Sydney Clinical School

Phase 2 Skills

This clinical year provides the opportunity for a broad base of basic clinical technical skills to be learnt, and for students to develop confidence and competency in their clinical practice.

Learning skills through a variety of structured educational experiences allows for a solid learning base to be developed which focuses on teaching to standards; linking theoretical and practical learning and clinical relevance.

It is important that you recognise that learning a skill in the artificial environment is only the first (albeit an important) step. Developing confidence and competence in a skill will require you to move quickly to the clinical setting - it is important that you make opportunities to do this.
