SWSCS Phase 2 students will undertake four terms within South Western Sydney Hospitals:
Adult Health 1 is a 6 week term for which you may be allocated to Liverpool or Bankstown Hospital. AH1 incorporates the following weekly themes:
Adult Health 2 is a 6 week term for which you may be allocated to Liverpool or Bankstown Hospital for weeks 1,2 and 6. All students will undertake weeks 3, 4 and 5 at Liverpool Hospital. AH2 incorporates the following major systems, as well as trauma and specific senses and metabolic diseases:
Oncology and Palliative Care is a 4 week term during which students will undertake weeks 1 – 3 at Liverpool Hospital and week 4 at Braeside Hospital (with possible sub allocations to local health district hospitals). The O&PC term is unique at SWSCS and incorporates the highly regarded Dealing with Bad News Workshop.
Aged Care and Rehabilitation is a 4 week term for which students may be allocated to Liverpool or Bankstown Hospital. Home visits will be organised for you via the Aged Care Assessment Teams at each hospital. Typical clinical issues encountered will include complex co-morbidity problems in elders, chronic illness and disability, degenerative diseases including arthritis and dementia, rehabilitation, palliative care and cancer medicine, stroke, vascular disease, and terminal illness.
